Audrey Berg

Audrey R.B. Berg, 90 of Westby, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Norseland Nursing Home. Audrey was born September 17, 1925 in the Town of Coon to Alf and Ella (Fredrickson) Barstad. She graduated from Westby High School in 1943. On May 29, 1945 she was united in marriage to Orbin Berg. They farmed the first three years of their married life on Orbin's family farm in Chaseburg. In 1948, they moved to the farm where Audrey was born and lived there until Orbin's death in 2002. Audrey moved to Westby and in 2011 became a resident of Norseland Nursing Home. She was a lifetime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby where she taught Sunday school and was an active member of the ELCA-Womens group there. Audrey was also active in the Norseland Auxiliary for many years. Audrey is survived by her daughters: Arlene (Stephen) Leverentz of Edina, MN, Edith (Gary) Krueger of Stanley, WI and Gayle Heiar of Cross Plains, WI; seven grandchildren: Erin (Justin) Pelletier, Elisabeth (Nathan) Ammermann, Megan Leverentz, Kari (Mike Nelson) Lewandowski, Anna (Anthony) Feyock, Kyle (Kayla) Krueger, and Kathleen Heiar; great-grandchildren: Henry, Walter, and Winston Ammermann, Hailey Nelson, Ella Lewandowski, and Grayson Feyock; one brother-in-law, Arthur (Jessie) Berg; and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her room-mate, Alice Erickson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orbin; her parents; brother, Glenn Barstad; and son-in-law, Jerry Heiar. The family would like to thank the staff at Norseland for the love and compassion they showed in caring for Audrey. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial to follow in Our Saviors Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main Street in Westby and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers and plants memorials maybe directed to Norseland Auxiliary or Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby.
