Audrey L. Hagen, age 90 of Westby, died on Monday, August 10, 2015 Audrey Lucille Hagen, age 90 passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. Audrey was born Dec. 8, 1924 in LaCrosse to James Philip and Edna (Skolas) Hagen. Audrey was baptized on Christmas Eve in 1924 at her grandfather Otto Hagens house and confirmed on March 28, 1939 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Although Audrey did not graduate from high school, she was a part of the Westby High School class of 1942. Audrey worked at the Clover Farm General Store in Westby. Later in life, Audrey was employed by Vernon Memorial Hospital and worked in the laundry room for 25 years. Audrey lived in the Viroqua and Westby area all her life. She lived at Crestview Apartments in Westby for 21 years until she became a resident of the Old Times Assisted Living in Westby in December of 2008. While at Old Times she loved working on jigsaw puzzles and doing word search. Audrey entered Norseland Nursing Home in November of 2011. Audrey was a very caring individual with a warm heart. Audrey had an unbelievable memory. In her lifetime she knit 538 beautiful sweaters for people all over the United States. She was also a great piano player and played many songs from memory. Her favorite song was the Rustic Dance. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Our Saviors Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her sister, Karen Rudie; three nieces, Sue (Ron) Hagen of Park Falls, WI, Ann (Sterling) Bartlett of Madison, and Kim (Mark) Tainter of Westby; seven great-nieces and nephews: Staci (Greg) Guenther of Oshkosh, Eric (Kristen Coffin) Bartlett of Denver, CO, Heather (Pat) Rotering of Holmen, Stephanie (Andrew) Cunha of Frisco, TX, Craig (Lauren Buchanan) Tainter of Evanston, IL, Matt (Christy) Tainter of Westby, and Heidi (Nick) Wara of Omro, WI; and six great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Philip in infancy and brother-in-law, Grant Rudie, Jr. Blessed be our memory of Audrey Lucille Hagen. The family would like to thank the staff at Old Times Assisted Living and Norseland Nursing Home for the care given to Audrey. Memorials may be given to Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby, the Fine Arts Foundation of the Westby Area or memorial of choice. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. Pastor Dan Wollman will officiate with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery.
