Audrey M. Russell

Audrey M. Russell, age 82 of Viroqua, died Thursday, December 31, 2009. Audrey Mae Russell of Viroqua, Wisconsin, and formerly of Davenport and Eldridge, Iowa, died peacefully Thursday, December 31st in the Hospice Center at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI. She was the first-born child of Guy and Elsye Quick, born May 20, 1927, in East Moline, Illinois. She was their pride and joy and later assisted her parents with the raising of their other four children. She attended Davenport Central High School where she met her husband-to-be Hobart Dempsey Russell. Although they had no children of their own they were caring aunt and uncle to many nieces and nephews, and were greatly loved by all of them. Special outings with relatives included: Jimmy trip to a dude ranch in the Rocky Mountains; Adam, tour of the White House when Adam was stationed there in the Air Force; visit to the nursery when Jeff and Sues triplet boys were born; a fun-filled camping adventure at the State Fair with ten year old Jenye and a trip to Germany and Austria with Jim, Sandi and Mary when Kevin was stationed there in the US Army. Their beautiful photo books are filled with memories of many adventures with friends and family, but most beloved of all, their trip to Alaska. Survivors include her sisters, Betty Johnston (DeRell) of Bettendorf, Iowa, Sandra Kuehn (James) of Viroqua, WI and David Quick (Donna) of Viola, IL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobart Russell of Eldridge in 1998, her parents, Guy and Elsye Quick, of Bettendorf, Iowa, a brother, Richard Duane Quick of Davenport, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be celebrated at St. Marys Annunciation Catholic Church in Viroqua, WI on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. by Father Robert Cook; interment will follow in Davenport Memorial Park in Davenport, Iowa.
