Barb Moen, 72, of De Soto, WI, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 18, 2026. Barb was the daughter of Helen (Aspenson) Dayton, Jerry Dayton, and George Olson. Born on November 24, 1953, in La Crosse, WI, Barb was married to Tim Moen, the love of her life.

Barb is survived by her son, Rick Arentz of De Soto, WI; grandson, Gregory Arentz (Mandi Martell) of La Crosse, WI; granddaughter, Miranda Arentz of Winona, MN; great-granddaughter, Jazmine; and great-grandson, River. She is also survived by five sisters: Hope Olson, Cindy Craig, Tracy (Terry) Johnson, and Kari (Dwayne) Beinborn, all of Holmen, WI, and Dawn (Mark) Copeland of Stoddard, WI; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss her.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Tim Moen; mother, Helen Dayton; stepfather, Jerry Dayton; father, George Olson; brothers, Jerry Dayton and Randy Dayton; brother-in-law, Kevin Craig; and nephews, Jason Kutil and Adam Johnson.

Barb lived her life to the fullest, loving her friends and family with all her heart. She was the kind of person who would help anyone in need, no questions asked and without expecting anything in return. Her kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand were just a few of the many qualities that made her so special. Barb owned Sportsman Tavern in Ferryville, WI, and a local tavern in Eastman, WI; she also worked as an LPN at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital. Through her work and her everyday life, Barb touched the lives of so many people. If you were blessed to know Barb, you knew her heart was big, her love was fierce, and she had a way of making people feel cared for and welcomed.

Barb’s entire life was full of adventure, laughter, love, and memories that will be cherished forever. She enjoyed taking vacations via cruises with her best friend, Gloria Graeser Cerwinske. She was also an avid crocheter, making a baby blanket for all her nieces and nephews.

Barb will be especially remembered for teaching her family the art of pickling and canning. This became a favorite activity for everyone fortunate enough to learn from her. More than just passing along recipes, Barb was passing down a piece of herself, creating memories and traditions that will continue for generations. Her recipes will live on in the kitchens of her loved ones, carrying with them the love, patience, and care she put into everything she did. Every jar will serve as a reminder of Barb, the lessons she taught, and the special moments shared together.

Barb leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, strength, and treasured memories. Though she will be deeply missed, the lessons she taught, the kindness she shared, and the traditions she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her life was a gift to those around her, and her memory will forever remain a blessing.

A private family burial will be held at a later date. Barb’s final resting place will be in Victory, WI.
