Barbara Marie Curtis, age 84 of Viroqua, died on Monday, March 27, 2006 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse. She was born October 25, 1921 in Viroqua to Albert and Gunda (Bergh) Thompson. She was baptized on December 16, 1921 and confirmed July 5, 1936 at Main Street Lutheran Church in Viroqua. On November 26, 1938 she married LeRoy Errickson. They had two daughters, Linda and Patricia. LeRoy died March 29, 1946. On April 11, 1947 she married DeVerne "Bud" Curtis and they had two sons, Jack and Bruce. Bud died on August 27, 1993. Barbara was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Viroqua Country Club where she enjoyed playing bridge and golf. She enjoyed sports and was an avid Badger and Packer fan. She also enjoyed making lefse and was known as the "Lefse Queen" in the family. In addition, she loved her grandchildren very much. She crocheted afghans and gave one to each grandchild for their baptism and graduation. Barbara had worked at Felixs, the Greenhouse, and Thurins Shoe Store. She is survived by her children: Patricia (David) Ostrem of Green Lake, Jack (Mary) Curtis of Eau Claire, and Bruce (Colleen) Curtis of Green Bay; and her nine grandchildren: Terri (Tim) Crossland of Arizona, Todd (Anne) Young of Holmen, Christina (Al) Muenchow of Ripon, Jason (Loretta) Ostrem of Michigan, Krista Curtis of Madison, Kyle Curtis of Minneapolis, Kari Curtis of Menomonie, Brieanne (Jim) LeCaptain of Green Bay, Brittanie Curtis of Oshkosh. She is further survived by six great-grandchildren: Chase, Karissa, Jonathon, Tyler, Serena, and Mason; her son-in-law Charles (Eileen) Young of Holmen; her brother Kenneth (Ann) Thompson of Brice Prairie; and her sister Margery Green of Fort Atkinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband LeRoy Errickson, her second husband, DeVerne "Bud" Curtis, one daughter Linda Young on April 29, 1981; sisters Irene Lake and Elaine Thompson; and brothers Agrim Thompson and William Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2006 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker (Hwy 56) Viroqua. The Rev. Dr. Steven Fossum will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 6 p.m. and on Friday after 10:00 a.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, Viroqua. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
