Barbara Ann Vesbach

Barbara “Barb” Ann Vesbach, age 78, of rural Viroqua, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Emplify by Gundersen in La Crosse. Barb was born on January 15, 1947, at St. Luke's Hospital in Racine to the late Roy and Eleanor (Spang) Leonard. Barb grew up on her family farm in Franksville, WI, the youngest of 12 children. She attended St. Catherine’s Catholic High School in Racine, graduating with the class of 1966. Following graduation, she worked in the main office at J.I. Case for a few years. After a blind date with Joe Vesbach, she married him on November 28, 1970, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Caledonia, WI. Together they celebrated 55 years of marriage. They started their married life in New Berlin farming and operating a landscaping business while welcoming their first two children. They later purchased a farm in the Viroqua area in 1974 and continued to grow their family with two additional children. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Viroqua. She did whatever was needed to help on the farm and with her family. She would run the combine, grain cart, bookkeeping for the farm and their trucking company, making home cooked meals; all while caring for the most important people in her life, her family. Barb enjoyed hunting, ranger rides, snowmobiling, tractor pulls, playing cards (sheepshead), dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her boundless love, devotion, compassion and tough spirit defined her and will never be forgotten.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Vesbach; her children, Todd (Tina) Vesbach, Sherri (Jeff) Gross, Amy (Aaron) Raders, and Brad (Lexi) Vesbach; her grandchildren, Erik (Janie) Vesbach, Ryan (Alyssa) Vesbach, Kristi (Timothee) Vesbach-Lecocq; Haley Gross, Alexa Gross, Hannah Raders, Haden Raders, Mya Raders; Kooper Vesbach and Eleanor “Missy” Vesbach; three great-grandchildren, Addilyn Vesbach, Rhett Vesbach, and Ezekiel Vesbach-Lecocq; her siblings, Carol Egresi, Charles “Chuck” (Shirley) Leonard, and Eleanor “Pat” (Gary) Lueneburg; her brother-in-law, Gene Egresi; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Eleanor (Spang) Leonard; her siblings, Joycelyn (Raymond Winkler, Vernon) Berg, Doris (Raymond) Larsen, Marjorie (Harold) Hugunin, Roy (Marge) Leonard, Mary Ann Leonard, Jack (Maggie) Leonard, Jane Egresi, and Marlene Leonard; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Viroqua. Fr. Joe Richards will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Barb will be laid to rest at the Viroqua Cemetery.
