Beatrice Eleanor Bakken, age 91 of Viroqua died Thursday, September 22, 2005 Beatrice Eleanor Bakken, age 91 of Viroqua died Thursday, September 22, 2005 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. Beatrice was born December 4, 1913 to William P. and Amanda (Pederson) Berg. On August 2, 1934 she married Theodore Monroe Bakken in Waukon, Iowa. The couple resided in La Crosse, Wisconsin where Beatrice worked at Northern Engraving for 25 years. She also did house cleaning in La Crosse. In 1991, she moved to Viroqua. A life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, Beatrice volunteered at the Bethel Home and was a member of the Bethel Home Auxiliary. Beatrice is survived by one sister, Arlene Ames; numerous nieces and nephews including Marc (Mary) Ames, Linda (Burt) Boeman, Marla (Kevin) Thompson, and Patricia (Norman) Rood; and many cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; one son in infancy; one brother, Eldon Berg; one sister, Mildred Berg; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Berg and Olga Hilmoe; and one nephew, Gene Berg. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2005 at the Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Peter Beckstrand will officiate with burial in the Zion Church Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, September 26, 2005 from 8:30-9:30 AM with a prayer service at 9:00 AM at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker (Hwy 56) Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church after 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Zion Lutheran Church. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
