Belinda Lou (Winchel) North

Belinda Lou North (Winchel), age 88, of Sussex and formerly of La Farge, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025. She was born on September 11, 1936, in La Farge, Wisconsin, to Otis and Grace (Collins) Winchel.

Belinda was raised in the Kickapoo Valley, where her family had deep roots dating back to the mid-1800s, settling in Winchel Valley near Ontario, Wisconsin. She attended Bear Creek School, where she met her future husband, Wayne North. After graduating from La Farge High School, Belinda married Wayne, and the couple moved to Milwaukee following his service in the U.S. Navy. In the years following, she became the proud mother of two sons, Randy and Edwin.

While living in Milwaukee, Belinda worked as a payroll accountant for the grocery chain, A&P. Despite city life, she and Wayne remained connected to their rural beginnings, maintaining a home in Viola, Wisconsin.

Belinda is survived by her son, Edwin (Suzanne) North; her grandchildren Eric North, Lori North (Brian Bigley), and Scott Patnode (Mayya Pechenova); and her great-grandchildren Ava Billodeau, Logan Billodeau, Odin Billodeau, Lincoln North, Brighten Bigley, and Rylen Bigley.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne; her firstborn, Randy; her parents, Otis and Grace; and her siblings, Maxine “Babe” Campbell, Katherine Gordon, and Blaine Winchel.

Belinda will be remembered for her dedication to family, her warm heart, and her lasting connection to the valley she always called home.
