Betty Jean Crook, age 90, of Readstown, passed away at her home on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born January 27, 1936, in Soldiers Grove to Glenn Harvey Phillips and Nellie Pearl (Wandless) Phillips. She graduated from Soldiers Grove High School. Betty married William “Willie” Crook on July 30, 1960. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Dog-N-Suds in Readstown, the Glass General Store in Readstown until the business was sold, and also O’Brien’s Sewing Garments in Richland Center. She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, sitting on the porch, watching her grandchildren, and painting the woodwork Willie made.
Survivors include her sons, Mark (Patricia) Crook and Drew (Dena) Crook; her grandchildren, Chad (Jamie) Borck, Chanda Borck, Duncan Crook, and Danica Crook; two step-granddaughters, Cheyenne and Kayla Raymond; her great-grandchildren, Monica (Tyler Brown) Crook, Kelli Hirschfield, Charity Raymond, and Lyanna Borck; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William “Willie” Crook; her siblings, Maxine (Gordon) Olson, Keith (Mildred) Phillps, Ross (Delma) Phillips, Garnet (Buren) Davenport, Dale (Lois) Phillips, Glenn Phillips Jr., Vivian (Donald) Townsend, Bobbie (Joyce) Phillips, Gloria (John) Glass; her brothers and sisters-in-law; Clyde Crook, Betty (Ray) Hollenbech, Gerald Crook, Dorothy “Rusty” (Robert) Rein, Fred “Boze” (Vivian) Crook, Patricia Dobbs, and Doris (Orland) Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to your area Humane Society are appreciated.
A Funeral Service for Betty will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Readstown Advancement Building. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the Readstown Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Advancement Building. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
