Betty J. Swenson, 74, of Viroqua died Saturday, May 14, 2011. Betty J. Swenson, age 74 of Viroqua, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. She was born on September 7, 1936 near West Lima, WI to Fred and Rachel (Walling) Burick. On October 3, 1952 she was united in marriage to Harold Swenson. Betty worked at Viroqua Leaf Tobacco and was a member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. She is survived by her children: Beverly Allen of Viroqua, Judy Kniep of Viroqua, Rodney (Wanda) of Soldiers Grove, LeRoy (Diana) of Stoddard and Brian (Kristine) of Viroqua; seven grandchildren: Joe, Linda, Matthew, Joshuah,Danielle, Kathryn and Nikki; six great-grandchildren: Shaila, Colton, Zachary, Elizabeth, Aaliyah, and Jayden; seven step-grandchildren: one sister, Thelma Hintzpeter; two brothers: Clarence Burdick and Lester Burdick; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; two sons-in-law, Victor Allen and Ronald Larson; siblings: Emmett, Carl, Kenny, Harold and two sisters who died in childhood; and her special friend, Larry Robertson. Blessed be our memory of Betty J. Swenson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial in the Bloomingdale Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main (Hwy 14) in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday after 10 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
