Betty J. Zube

Betty Jean Zube, age 76 of Viroqua, WI died Wednesday, August 8, 2007 Betty Jean Zube, age 76 of Viroqua, died on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 while on vacation with her family in Hawaii. Betty was born June 29, 1931 in Viroqua to Guy and Merle (Fish) Primmer. She graduated from Viroqua High School in 1949, attended Vernon County Teachers College, and worked as a teachers aide for the developmentally disabled at Davis School in Viroqua. On February 18, 1950 she was united in marriage to Paul Zube. They lived on Pauls home farm all their married years. Betty was a CNA in the OB Department at Vernon Memorial Hospital for many years. She also worked for Americore and the Vernon County Unit on Aging. She was a member of the Two Ridges Homemakers Club, and was a 4-H leader for over 25 years. Betty was the knitting & crocheting superintendent at the fair for many years and was an avid bowler for over 30 years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was a member of the Joanna Circle. She was also a member of the National Cheviot Sheep Breeders Association, Cattlemens Association, and was a FFA Alumnus. Betty is survived by her children: Mary (Jeff) Reed of North Pole, Alaska; Steven (Sharon) of Waupaca, WI; Stanley (Linda) of Viroqua, WI; and Scott (Teresa) of Kiel, WI; six grandchildren: Sarah (Jon) Martin, Peter Reed, Calvin and Wesley Zube, Carl (Jenny) Zube, and Robbie Zube; and two great-grandchildren: Allison and Madilyn Zube. She is further survived by one sister, Joan (Tom) Hirsch; four brothers: Loren (Jenese), Orvis (Janice), Don (Lillian), and Adrian (Lynn) Primmer as well as many other relatives and friends including her extended family in Alaska: Albert and Lynda Jenks, Marvel and Dan Dement, Linda Gregory, David and Luci Jones, Dee Yokum, and Clare and Tom Kuble. In addition to her parents and mother and father-in-law, Carl and Mabel Zube, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; one son, Frederick; one brother and sister-in-law: Leon and Cleo Primmer; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Emery and Betty Zube. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua, WI. Pastor Lindsay Jordan will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker Street (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. (Due to road construction, please use the parking lot entrance block south of Hwy 56.) Friends may also call after 10 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Toys for Tots Program or the Vernon County Agriculture Society (to be used toward construction of a new building at the fairgrounds.)
