Betty Virginia Dieter

Betty Virginia (Bankes) Dieter, age 93, of Racine, WI, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie, WI, after a short illness. Betty was born June 8, 1930, to Kermit T. and Freda M. (Jacobson) Bankes. Betty was born in Folsum, WI and grew up in Liberty Pole, WI. She graduated from Viroqua High School. On July 31, 1948, she was united in marriage to Byron W. Dieter of La Farge, WI. In 1953, they moved to Racine, WI, and raised 9 children. She was a woman in Christ, and her day to day life reflected this.

She is survived by six sons and two daughters: Gary (Char), Kevin, Shelley (John), Troy (Sheila), Rees, Shelah, Faron, and Errett; sister-in-law, Darlene Bankes; brother, Alan (Nikki) Bankes; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 41 years, Byron William Dieter; her son, Justin Boyd Dieter; sister, Dorothy “Dotty” Bankes; brothers, Keith C. Bankes, Theodore (sister-in-law, June) L. Bankes; and her grandparents.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the West Lima Church of Christ. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. Betty will be laid to rest at Bear Creek Cemetery after the luncheon. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
