Beuford W. Olson, age 89 of Viroqua, died Sunday August 19, 2018. Beuford W. Olson, age 89, of Viroqua, WI died Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care in Viroqua. He was born June 1, 1929 in Viroqua to Melvin Olson and Hilda Rusdal. Beuford graduated from Viroqua High School. He entered the Army in 1951. It was during the Korean War and he was stationed in Germany. He was thankful to be able to travel to London, Scotland, France, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands on various military leaves. Beuford married Karen Tryggestad on April 16, 1955. They purchased the family farm in Newton Valley from his father, who had originally purchased it in 1921. While farming he also worked at Northern Wisconsin Co-op Tobacco Pool occasionally during the winter months. After many years of farming he switched over to working full time at Northern Wisconsin Co-op and put in a total of over 30 years. When he moved off the family farm he sold it to his nephew Steven Olson and his wife Carrie, and the farm remained in the family. Over the years Beuford enjoyed traveling to see his grandchildren in California, going to baseball games with Jeff, and eating at Dunnums Caf. He was called "grandpa" not only by Melissa, but everyone else there. Beuford is survived by his three children: Paula (Mark Dunnum) Tharp of Onalaska, Peggy (Kerry Gold) Rasmussen of Oak Park, CA, and Jeff Olson of Brooklyn Park, MN. He is also survived by: three grandchildren, Melissa (Al) Adbiu of Viroqua, and Taylor Rasmussen and Alexandra Rasmussen of Santa Monica, CA. Beuford was preceded in death by; his wife Karen, his parents, two brothers, Russell and Wesley Olson, and his sister Lillian Erickson. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor Yvonne Marshall will officiate with burial to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-6pm on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home (123 W. Decker /Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10am till the time of service. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
