Beverly "Bev" Steinbach

Beverly “Bev” Steinbach, age 96, of Viroqua and formerly of Soldiers Grove, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024. She was born on June 18, 1928, to the late Clifford “Afey” and Isabel (Posey) Purington at their home in Soldiers Grove. Bev graduated from Soldiers Grove High School in 1946, and attended school in Madison to prepare for her career as a secretary. Bev married Jerry Steinbach on June 23, 1950.

She started her career at the Bank of Gays Mills where Bev worked for five years until she switched jobs to work for Crawford Electric, where she worked for 30 years until her retirement in 1990. Bev and Jerry purchased a farm near Soldiers Grove and while Jerry tended to the cows, Bev was tending to her immaculate flower garden that she took great joy in. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends.

Bev is survived by her son, Randy (Rebecca) of Mt. Carroll, IL; two grandsons, James (Adrienne) Steinbach of Winchester, VA, and Michael Steinbach (Amy McAninch) of Fairplay, CO; two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Andrew; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Nauman.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jerry.

Bev's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Vernon Acres and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care as well as Pastor Julie Wollman for the many wonderful visits.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Soldiers Grove Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Bev will be laid to rest at the Gays Mills Cemetery following the lunch at the church.
