Beverly Hope Slade, age 97, of Readstown, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Soldiers Grove Health Services. She was born on February 3, 1927, to the late Earl and Hazel (Brown) Lowrey. She graduated from Readstown High School with the class of 1945. Following graduation, she moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked at a factory supporting the war effort as the war was ending. Bev worked at Dr. Carl Ender’s medical clinic for several years. Later, she worked at Vernon Telephone until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling and was always interested in learning new things. She was very generous and faithful.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Lyle) Laufenberg; two grandchildren, Lynn Laufenberg and Karin Beyer; two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Will Beyer; her sister-in-law, Barbara Lowrey; several nieces and nephews; longtime friend, Ruth Dobbs; other relatives and friends.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Michael Slade; and her brothers, Myron (Heidi) Lowrey, ID “Barney” (Ouida) Lowrey, and Gene Lowrey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Soldiers Grove Health Services or your local Humane Society.
A Funeral Service for Beverly will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Bev will be laid to rest at the Readstown Cemetery.
