Blaine Earl Brye, age 95 of Viroqua, died on Friday May 25, 2018. Blaine Earl Brye, age 95 of Viroqua, passed away on Friday May 25, 2018 at Creamery Creek in Viroqua. Blaine was born on October 18, 1922 in Vernon County to Chester Thomas and Sadie Elsie (Officer) Brye. His brothers Wayne, Fredrick and Clifford and a sister Florence preceded him in death. His loving sister Donna Erdman lives in Wykoff, MN. Blaine married Irene Skaar on November 27, 1946, and she passed away in September 1969. He is survived by, his two daughters, Pamela Brye of Rockville MD and Lucinda (Lawrence) Peterson of Viroqua. In addition are his two grandchildren, Aubrey Peterson (Jeremy Turben) and Derek Peterson both from Viroqua and his great-grandson Brye Turben. His companion and fishing partner for 30 years is Alice Sloane. Her children are Teresa (Steve) Clements and Kevin (Juliene) Sloane with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Blaine served in World War II in The National Guard and the Army in Australia. He was a member of the VFW, Eagles and American Legion. He farmed on the family farm in Springville for many years. After farming he sold Harvestor Silos, did custom combining and drove a school bus for the Viroqua School District for 31 years. Blaine enjoyed fishing, with many trips to northern Wisconsin and Canada with Alice. Faithful friends are his card playing buddies Conrad Steele and Glenn Gardner. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the staff at Creamery Creek, VMH Hospice and Dr. Chakoian for the care given to Blaine. A Funeral Service for Blaine will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday May 29, 2018 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Pastor Peter Beckstrand of the Bethany, Bethel and Zion Lutheran Churches will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Viroqua Cemetery, immediately after the service. Friends may during a visitation one-hour before the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred.
