VIROQUA Blair McClurg, age 93, died Friday May 13, 2016 at Bethel Home in Viroqua. Blair was born on August 15, 1922 in rural Viroqua to Walter and Laura (Heasty) McClurg. He was a graduate of Viroqua High School. Blair was married to Eunice Egeness on May 17, 1942 and enjoyed 68 years together before she died on April 9, 2010. For 40 plus years he owned and operated DeMacs Frame and Alignment. Blair was a member of the Viroqua Church of Christ. He was a lifetime member, and past president of the local fraternal order of EAGLES aerie# 2707. He was a member of the Viroqua OddFellows Club. His personal joys and hobbies took him outdoors. He enjoyed fishing especially salmon fishing in Lake Michigan and the Pacific Ocean. He was a golf enthusiast who still had the putter awarded to him for having made a hole-in-one very much like a 300 game in a sport he also loved which was bowling. Blair was a great bowler having gone to several state championships. He loved to travel, too, to Ireland, Scotland and even Spain. And upon retirement took up raising roses and woodworking. He became a true craftsman creating things like grandfather clocks and cedar chests for his granddaughters. He and his special companion Snoopy were always busy often seen around enjoying life on their red skooter. Blair is survived by his children, Ken (Karon Althaus) McClurg, David (Susan Koppa McClurg) McClurg, and Nancy (John Solverson) Bongers, and 10 grandchildren Kelsey McClurg, Katie (John Newman) Bongers, Danny (Seda) McClurg, Steve (Cathy) Sherry, Linda (Mitchell) Mabb, Michelle (John) Gibson, Ashley McClurg, Chrisler McClurg, Shelley (Roy) Gunn, and Jodi (Josh) Stahley. Also surviving are two brothers Robert (Ruth) McClurg and Don McClurg, two sister-in-laws Mayonne McClurg and Ruth McClurg, plus 9 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one child in infancy, 3 brothers Roland, Clinton and Eldon and 2 sisters Helen Hill and Lois McDowell. The family wishes to thank Blair's in-home caregivers, Dr. Chakoian and the Bethel Home staff for their loving and compassionate care. Funeral Services for Blair will be on Wednesday May 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Viroqua Church of Christ. Reverend Steve Fossum will officiate with interment following at the Viroqua City Cemetery. Friends may call on the family during a visitation from 10-11 AM at the Church before the service. The visitation will close with a special tribute from the Viroqua Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #2707.
