Bonnie Ellen Coleman

March 2, 1936 — July 6, 2024

Bonnie Ellen Coleman, 88, of Soldiers Grove, passed away on July 6, 2024, at Soldiers Grove Health Services, where she enjoyed a peaceful life for over ten years. Bonnie was born on March 2, 1936, to Walter and Elbie (Davenport) Salmon, at their home in Montgomeryville, near Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin.

After graduating from Soldiers Grove High School, she worked as a Secretary at the Will Ward Insurance Agency in Soldiers Grove. On February 9, 1957, she married the love of her life, Darold Coleman. He worked as an ironworker, and they lived in several cities including Wisconsin Rapids, Lake Mills, Waunakee, and Black Earth.

In 1967, Darold and Bonnie moved back to the Kickapoo Valley. They purchased a dairy farm on the North Clayton Ridge. Bonnie worked very hard as a farm wife. She milked cows and raised chickens. She always found time to have a huge garden. Bonnie’s greatest joy was celebrating the holidays with her family. She was an excellent cook, and her apple pies were the best. They all shared so many warm memories together in their little house on the hill.

Bonnie was an active member of the Community of Christ Church in Montgomeryville. She served as the Church Recorder for over 30 years and was active in the Women’s Department. She had a strong faith in God, which she passed on to her family. Bonnie always put her children first and loved them unconditionally. She kept a Diary since 1998 and referred to each new grandchild or great grandchild as her new “Blessing” from God.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her son, Thomas. Bonnie is survived by her children, Anna (Jon) Mohrmann, Carol (David) Parrell, and Jerry (Katrina Johnson) Coleman; ten grandchildren: Jenny, Nathan, Jacob, Lisa, Angela, Daniel, Joy, Courtney, Charlie, and Allen; seven great-grandchildren: Ava, Asher, Hailey, Cynthia, Margaret, Autumn, and Hazel; and her brother-in-law, Larry Coleman.

Bonnie was blessed by excellent care from all the staff and nurses at Soldiers Grove Health Services. Special thanks to those who brought her coffee each morning, styled her hair each week, and carefully made her bed each day.
