Bonnie Lou Johansen (Zillmer), passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, surrounded by loved ones after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on May 8, 1964, in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, Bonnie grew up in Spooner and graduated from Spooner High School in 1983. Throughout her life, she loved listening to music and found joy in the simple things that brought people together.

In 1990, Bonnie moved from Spooner to Hayward, Wisconsin, which is where she called home, raised her three children, and was loved in the community through her servant lifestyle in health care and school bus driving, before relocating to the Viroqua area in 2013 to be closer to her grandchildren. Her family and community was the center of her life, and she treasured every opportunity to create lasting memories with them.

Bonnie devoted more than 40 years to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant in nursing homes. Her compassion and dedication allowed her to build lifelong relationships with residents and coworkers alike. She also worked as a school bus driver for more than 25 years. She loved being around children and was a familiar, caring presence in the lives of many students and families.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, reading, and spending time with those she loved. Bonnie will be remembered for her caring heart, hardworking spirit, and the love she gave freely to her family, friends, coworkers, and community.

Bonnie is survived by her significant other of 13 years, Daryl Lee of Westby, Wisconsin; her children, Amanda (Dusty) Swiggum, Daniel (Danielle) Johansen, and Jyssica (Tommy) Johansen; and her sisters, Debbie (Dave) Couch, Dar Zillmer, and Becky (Jeff) Smith.
