Brian D. Hanson, age 73 of Ferryville, died Sunday evening, September 26, 2010. Brian D. Hanson, age 73 of Ferryville, died Sunday evening, September 26, 2010 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 26, 1937 in Montivideo, MN to Aldon and Lenore (Saltness) Hanson. He graduated from Portage High School and then joined the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, he graduated from U.W. Madison with a BSAE. For 20 years he worked at General Electric as a field engineer and engineering manager. He then worked for 15 years at Panasonic as General Manager of the Service Division. He was a life member of the AMVETS and was a member of the Freeman Lutheran Church where he served as the council treasurer. Brian organized and ran the Antique Tractor Pull in Ferryville, named the "Reuben Knutson Memorial Tractor Pull". In addition to his wife, Penny (Slowey) to whom he was married on June 27, 1964, he is survived by four children: Christine (Matt) Czarick of Snellville, GA, Robin Hanson of Sugar Grove, IL, Robert "Bob" Hanson of LaCrosse, and Michael Hanson of Mathuen, MA; four grandchildren: Mary Corley Czarick, Katherine Czarick, Elizabeth Czarick, and Tucker Czarick; one sister, Phyllis (Tom) Hamele of Portage; five sisters-in-law: Jean (John) Wasson of Portage, Pat (Jack) Mitchell of Portage, Nancy (Jim) Hathaway of Sun Prairie, Sue Miller of Madison, and Kathleen (Gary) Jepson of Marshfield; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Pamela Hanson on July 16, 2008; one brother, Robert and one sister, Julie Oakley. Blessed be our memory of Brian D. Hanson. Services will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Freeman Lutheran Church. Pastor Doug Anderson will officiate with interment in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 320 Main Street in DeSoto and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers and plants memorials may be directed to Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospice or Freeman Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of DeSoto is serving the family.
