Brita Bodenstein, age 82, of Soldiers Grove, died Saturday, February 22, 2020. Brita Bodenstein, age 82, of Soldiers Grove, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, February 22, 2020. She was born September 27, 1937, in Oslo, Norway to the late Worm and Betzy (Troppen) Langseth. She emigrated from Oslo in the late 1950s to Madison, WI, where she met and married her husband Wolfgang Bodenstein. In 1976, the couple moved to Rolling Ground, WI, where they owned and operated Rolling Ground Store & Tavern, the gathering spot for area residents, for 16 years. They developed life-long friendships, raised their family and were active in the community. She was an active member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, serving on the church council and other positions. She also volunteered at North Crawford Schools, serving on the school board. In 1992, they sold the bar to family friends. She then worked at Town & Country Sanitation for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, the outdoors, gardening and traveling back to Norway and Germany. She was blessed with a good life and proud of her family. Survivors include her children: Bruce (Josephine) Bodenstein, Brian Bodenstein and Barb (Mike) Bodenstein; six grandchildren: Joseph (Angela), Steven, Nicole, Brandon, Blake and Bailey; five great-grandchildren: Jocelyn, Jackson, Isla, Greyson, and Addyson; her sister Mette Reinsborg; other relatives and friends. Brita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wolfgang and her sister Ellen Rodsten. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Britas name. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 303 Church St., Soldiers Grove, WI. Pastor Carrie Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, February 28, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 325 Sunset Ridge Ave. in Gays Mills, WI. Additional visitation will be held Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at church. Brita will be laid to rest at Mook Cemetery. Britas family would like to thank the entire staff at the UW Hospital in Madison for the compassionate care they provided. The Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills is serving the family.
