Bruce A. Constalie

Bruce A. Constalie, age 60, of Westby, died Thursday, April 17, 2008. Bruce A. Constalie, age 60, of Westby, died early Thursday morning, April 17, 2008 of an apparent heart attack. He was born on Sept. 8, 1947 in LaCrosse to Rand and Eileen (Sloan) Constalie. He attended Westby Area Schools and graduated in 1965. He attended the UW-LaCrosse and joined the United States Navy in 1967. He served for two years in Morocco as a communication technician. He retired from the Navy in 1989 after serving for 23 years. After returning from active duty in 1969, Bruce joined the family business, Constalie Plumbing, in Westby. In 1983, he began working for First Supply as a sales representative. On April 28, 1979, Bruce was united in marriage to Janice Breidel at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. During his life, he greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, going on family vacations with his wife and two daughters as well as having coffee with the guys. He was a member of: Our Saviors Lutheran Church where he served on the church council for many years, Syverson-Funk American Legion, and the LaBelle Masonic Lodge. In addition to his wife, Janice, Bruce is survived by two daughters, Michelle of Onalaska and Tracy of Menomonie; his father, Rand Constalie of Westby; sister, Annette Easterday of Westby; mother-in-law, Rosella Breidel of Westby; two brothers-in-law, Philip (Kathy) Breidel, Jr. and Ron (Marla) Breidel; one sister-in-law, Judy (Hector Romo) Blackburn; nieces and nephews: Stacey and Todd Mengelt, Nicole and Jason Breidel, Eric and Mark Breidel, Derek and Lisa Schyvink, Kristen and Travis Cowden, and Karen and Jason DeLap; aunt Lorraine Sloan, cousins Larry and Mike Sloan, Fred (Mary) Constalie, Joann Hernandez and Avis Baas; his fishing buddy, Jim "Wally" Westfall; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Constalie on June 23, 2002 and his father-in-law, Philip Breidel in 1994. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby with Pastor Gary Daines officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Our Saviors Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Sunday after 12:00 noon.The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
