Camilla Grimsled

Camilla L. Grimsled, age 97, died Saturday July 9, 2016 at Vernon Manor in Viroqua. She was born on November 6, 1918 in Woodman WI, in Grant Co. to Jonathan and Mertie (Walker) Payne. She was united in marriage to Arnold Elmer Grimsled at Southwest Prairie Lutheran Church rural Ferryville, WI the day after her birthday on November 7, 1941. He preceded her in death January 10, 1996 after 54 years of marriage. Camilla spent her adult life as a farm wife helping Arnold every step of the way. She loved her gardening each year deciding that bigger is always better. She enjoyed being a part of the ladies WELCA group at Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church. She was always baking something. She had a passion for both crocheting and quilting. Mostly she loved the time she spent with her family, especially every Sunday for family dinners. Camilla is survived by her children Marilyn (Robbie) Robinson, Gerald "Buck" (Dawn) Grimsled, Cheryl Thompson, Doug (Gail) Grimsled, 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Marcella Grimsled and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter Clarice Brockway, a granddaughter Malinda Sandvick, two great-grandchildren Courtney and Gage, a grandson-in-law Todd Infield, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She will be missed by all. A grateful family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Fairhaven Assisted Living in Viroqua. Funeral Services will be Wednesday July 13, 2016 at Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church in Mt. Sterling, WI at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Nile Sandeen will officiate with burial immediately following in the Mt. Sterling Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call during a visitation on Tuesday July 12, 2016 at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills from 4:00-7:00 P.M., also at the church on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be directed to the Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church.
