Carol A. Hagen, age 68 of Westby, died Friday, March 27, 2015. Carol A. Hagen, age 68 of Westby, died Friday, March 27, 2015 at her home. She was born on May 1, 1946 in LaCrosse to Curtis and Arlene (Lyhus) Hagen. She graduated from Westby High School in 1964. In 1968 she received a bachelor of science degree from U.W. LaCrosse and in 1972 received her masters degree from U.W. Whitewater. Carol was a history and social studies teacher at Hartford Union High School from 1968 to 2002. While she was teaching, she enjoyed spending weekends and holidays at her farm in Timber Coulee and moved there full time after retirement. Carol was artistic and loved animals. She was an avid golfer, receiving many trophies and was a lifetime member of the Snowflake Ski and Golf Club. She was also a member of the N.E.A. and W.E.A and was past-president of the Hartford Education Association. She is survived by her cousins: Marilyn (Richard) Mellen, Connie (Bob) Marsh, Glenn (Luanne) Olstad, Annette (Mark) McHenry, Nancy (Joel) Graw, and Rose Olstad and John (Suzanne) Lyhus; other relatives and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents. Private services will be held at a later date. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
