Carol Jean Cade, 88, of Westby, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, surrounded by her family. Carol was born June 11th, 1935, in La Crosse, WI to Ernest and Verna (Jungen) Roesler. She grew up on the Roesler farm near Coon Valley, WI with her sister, Pat and brother, Jim. She was baptized Catholic and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1953. Carol and Wyman enjoyed date nights dancing at the Avalon Ballroom. They were married September 16th, 1961, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse.
Wyman and Carol raised four children: Mark, Patrick, Vicki, and Steven on their family farm outside of Westby. Carol was a hard-working mother as she farmed with Wyman and their family for over 50 years. She also worked at Noelke’s in La Crosse, Taylor Lumber in Viroqua, the Growers Produce Auction near Cashton, packing cheese boxes at the Westby Coop Creamery in Westby, and loved working with her granddaughter, Tiffany, at Deep Rooted near Westby. In her spare time, you could find her cooking and baking for her family, doing yard work, or attending the many events her children and grandchildren were involved in.
Carol was a kind soul and always put others before herself. She was very strong within her faith and attended St. Mary’s Church of Viroqua for many years and was a member of the church quilting group. Carol adored her family and was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and it brought her joy to bring everyone together.
Carol will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her husband, Wyman Cade and their four children: Mark (Cheryl) Cade, Patrick (Kimberly) Cade, Vicki (Cordell) Smithey, and Steven (Dawn Drake) Cade; her ten grandchildren: Tiffany (Jimmy Fackert) Cade, Travis (Shelley) Cade, Austin (Emily) Cade, Brett Cade, Brynn Cade, Riley Cade, Lindsey (Shawn) Hansen, Lance (April) Smithey, Makenzie Drake, and Zachary Drake as well as her great-grandchildren: Landen, Axys, Adalynn, Halie, Shawna, Heath, Brekk, and Orion; her siblings, Patricia “Pat” (Sylvester) Clements and James “Jim” (Ruth) Roesler; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry Cade, David (Sheila) Cade, Sandra (Richard) Hall, Judy (Paul) Erickson, and Kim Cade; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters-in-law; Donald Cade, Beverly (Conrad) Bankes, Ramona (Carter) Thompson, Marjorie (Larry) Trappe, and Connie Cade.
The family of Carol Cade would like to thank the staff at Vernon Memorial Hospital and St. Croix Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
