Carol Patricia Sherry

July 14, 1929 — January 16, 2022

Carol Patricia Sherry, age 92, died on January 16, 2022. She was born July 14, 1929, to Clarence and Mabel (Anderson) Thompson in the Town of Franklin. Carol attended the Ole Torger grade school and Viroqua High School, graduating in 1946. In 1950, she was married to Frederick Sherry in Viroqua, WI. Carol was baptized and confirmed and was a lifetime member of the Kickapoo United Lutheran Church. She was a member of the WELCA and the Mary Circle and taught Sunday School for many years. She worked side by side with Frederick on the farm, caring for and milking the cows, doing tractor work like baling hay, and painting the buildings by hand (including the inside of the barn all white). They won an award for their beautiful farm in Yankee Town outside of Soldiers Grove, a testament to their effort and meticulousness. In her later years, she worked at Sunrise Orchards. She loved to work outdoors and was a wonderful cook. She loved baking Norwegian pastries, especially rosettes, which she had a special touch for making just right. Carol was a woman of tremendous faith who was known for being incredibly caring, kind, and hard-working. She loved her family deeply; her son and grandchildren meant the world to her. She never missed an opportunity to tell them how much she loved them, how special they were to her, and how proud she was of them. An amazing mother and grandmother, she was a rock for their small and close-knit family. Her grandchildren were blessed to have been able to spend a great deal of time with her and make countless memories together - spending time on the farm and in her home, playing card games, enjoying her home-cooked meals, and hearing stories about her childhood, life on the farm, her beloved Frederick, and her favorite memories of their father and the grandchildren themselves. She was beyond thrilled with the arrival of her great-grandchild, Rigby, cherishing her time with him and her new title of great-grandmother. Her family will carry her love, strength, and guidance with them, along with these precious memories, for the rest of their lives. Words cannot express how much she was loved and how greatly she will be missed. She is survived by her son, Mark; her grandchildren, Erica Sherry, Shaun Sherry (fiancée Lucy Dolezal), and Cody Marshall; her great-grandchild, Rigby Sherry (son of Shaun and Lucy); and bonus great-grandchildren, Jude, Sophia, and Amara. She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick in 1985; her parents; and three infant daughters. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Kickapoo United Lutheran Church. Pastor Chuck Miller will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Face-masks are required at the church.
