Carol R. Berger, age 68 of Westby, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Carol Rae Berger, age 68 of Westby, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at the Norseland Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 24, 1939 to Raynice and Doris (Nedland) Johnson. She grew up on a farm near West Prairie, Vernon County, Wisconsin, and later moved to Viroqua. On November 15, 1958 she was united in marriage to Carlyle Berger. Carol had worked at the Westby Creamery for several years and also cleaned for several businesses in Westby. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby and the WELCA. She is survived by her children: Calvin (Peggy) Berger, Randy Berger and special friend Amanda, Chad Berger and special friend Kathy, all of Westby, and her sisters who she raised as daughters: Shirley (James) Fremstad of Westby, and Sherri (Richard) Weber of Lancaster, WI; grandchildren: Jayme, Nicolas, Kaitlin Berger, Nichole Weber, Jessica Fremstad, and Teresa (Jon) Olson, Justin (Amy) Mashak and Erik Mashak and special friend Kristina; great grandchildren: Ethan, Alex and Sadie; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlyle on March 7, 2003; an infant son, Barry; three brothers: Wyman, Ronnie and Gayle Johnson and one sister, Donna Kansier. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with burial in the Our Saviors Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Monday after 10:00 a.m."A special thank you to the wonderful caring staff at Norseland Nursing Home."In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
