Carole A Larson, 89, of West Salem, died Monday, April 24, 2017. Carole A Larson, 89, of West Salem passed away peacefully Monday, April 24, 2017, at Gundersen Health with family by her side. Carole was born April 7, 1928, on the family farm in Westby, to Eddie and Anna (Hanson) Lunde. She is a graduate of Westby High. She married Lester M Larson on November 10, 1945 in the Westby Coon Prairie Church. Throughout their marriage they lived West Salem, Westby, Janesville and La Crosse. Together they had five children. They were married over 52 years before being parted by Lesters passing in 1998. During Caroles lifetime, she loved to be around family. Her life was filled with family trips and get togethers. She was truly proud of her Norwegian heritage and could be heard speaking Norwegian while on the phone with family. She was a connoisseur of Yahtzee and Scrabble. She enjoyed weekly lunches and Scrabble marathons with her dear friends Ruth and Doris. Her family would date and keep their scorecard if they happen to beat her in a match. She was a member of The Church of Christ-Acapella at the time of her death. She is survived by 4 of her children, Jeanne (Larry) Weaver of Foley, AL, Vickie (Edwin) Knutson of Onalaska, WI, Russell (Lisa) Larson of West Salem, WI, Ann (fianc Tony) Schomber of Beaver Dam, WI, 15 Grandchildren including Scott, Jay, Stacey, Troy, Timothy, Heidi, Kyle, Nicholas, Brett, Jessica, Natasha, Gabrielle, Amanda, Dakota, and Carlie, 26 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great Great Grandchildren, a brother Irvin (Mary) Lunde of Berlin, WI, sister in law Dorothy Lunde of Westby, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester, a daughter Linda Olson, a grandson Travis Olson, her parents Eddie and Anna Lunde, her sisters Vivian (Lunde) Leum and Arlene Lunde, her brothers Chester, Roger and Eddie Jr, her Father and Mother in law Olof and Helma Larson, her brothers in law Obert Larson, Alden Fremstad, Milton Leum, sisters in law Cleo Lunde, Elaine Lunde, Audrey Fremstad and sons in law Glen Nelson, Ronald Nelson and Gary McAffee. Our family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Gundersen Health Systems for their loving care in our mothers final days especially Dr Mary Morris and the fine Nursing staff & Medical Assistants. You all made a difference! In lieu of flowers the family prefer memorials to the charity of your choice. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service at 5:30 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby.
