Carroll St.John, age 79, of Viroqua, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022, peacefully in her sleep. She was born January 4, 1943, in Chicago, IL to the late Roy and Sadie (Green) Witzel. On July 1, 1988, Carroll married her soulmate, Terry St.John at the Little Brown Church in Iowa. Carroll and Terry called Viroqua home, where they built their life together. She continued to foster children and adults until the day of her death; Carroll truly loved her children as if they were her own. Terry and Carroll had together owned the Blue Diamond Café from 2000 to 2005. Carroll enjoyed cooking for anything from dinner to holiday events; especially when there were big meals where she could bring food. She was known for her food for sure. Carroll and Terry loved their trips out to Vegas where they would visit family and travel to see a new adventure. She also enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia as they matched her favorite color, bright red. Carroll won the Mother of the Year contest and also Foster Parent of the Year through Vernon County. When Carroll was in town, people always knew it was her by the bug guard of her suburbans: “Carroll’s baby burby” and “Carroll’s lil caruck”. You could always know that she was in the store by her very unique laugh. Carroll is survived by her husband, Terry St.John; her children: Bob (Jill) St.John, Terri Beth Cade (Todd Deaver), Cathy St.John (Ryan Nelson); two step-children, Daren (Jennifer) St.John and Tara (Brian) McKittrick; grandchildren: Todd St.John, Brandon (Emily) Cade, Trent Seidel, Andre St.John, Eva Early, Amanda Loney (Trevor Parr), Shane Johnson, Fawn (Ron) Hopping, Maverick Nelson, Shelby Nelson, Brianna McKittrick, Cameron McKittrick, Brenner St.John, and Boman St.John; one great-grandchild: Isaac Cade; her brothers: Ron (Connie) Witzel, Bill (Nadine) Witzel, Roy David (Minmin) Witzel, Greg (Tammy) Witzel, and Jim Witzel; one sister, Nancy Fronczak; and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Todd; and brother-in-law, Clem Fronczak.
