On December 3rd, 2025, Catherine “Cathy” Ann (Isberner) Stevenson, 64, of Gays Mills, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
Cathy entered the world on September 26, 1961, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, the youngest child of Ruth (Adelich) Lomas and Ralph Isberner. As the baby of the family her older siblings, Linda, Don, Susan, and Elizabeth's presence helped shape the stories and memories of her childhood. Cathy and her sister, Beth, shared a childhood filled with stories they would retell for decades. One of Cathy’s favorites was the day the two of them somehow managed to get hamburger patties stuck to the kitchen ceiling and was an accident that became a treasured story.
As Cathy grew older and her siblings began their own journeys, Cathy and her mother, Ruth, formed an inseparable bond. Their relationship was one of deep friendship, mutual support, and love. It was a connection that remained one of the most meaningful in Cathy’s life.
Madison held a special place in Cathy’s heart. It was where she grew up, where she made memories with family and friends, and where she fought courageously for her sobriety that she maintained for over 30 years. Cathy loved the city, the lakes, and the memories it held. Cathy often shared stories from her time in Madison with the people she loved.
In 1995, Cathy married and began a new chapter in Gays Mills, where she welcomed her three daughters, Caitlyn, Cheyenne, and Cierra. Her girls were the center of her world, the source of her greatest pride and joy. Cathy consistently showed her daughters love, reassurance, and an understanding that meant everything to them. She passed on to her daughters her passion for reading, her compassion for others, and her unwavering love for animals. Her dogs, Bonita and Joey, were her constant companions and were spoiled with affection and treated as members of the family.
While in Madison, Cathy worked for many years at Wisconsin Bell/AT&T. Later, while raising her daughters, Cathy pursued Medical Transcription at Southwest Technical College and built a career in the field she had worked hard to enter. Cathy loved working with people, so she eventually transitioned into retail, where her friendliness and humor made a lasting impact on those she met. Due to her health challenges, Cathy retired last year, but she often reminisced about the customers and coworkers who had meant so much to her.
Even in difficult times, Cathy remained her spunky, stubborn, loving, and quick-to-laugh self. She found joy in the small things like spending time with her grandson, daughters, and family, watching scary movies, snuggling with her dogs and cats, hunting for Victorian antiques, and making impromptu trips to Taco Bell or one of her favorite fast-food stops.
Of all the blessings in her life, none meant more to Cathy than her grandson, Charlie. From the moment he arrived, he became her heart’s center. She loved making him laugh, planning adventures big and small for him, and watching him discover the world. Their summers spent in the sunshine, running around outside, having water fights, splashing in the pool, were among her happiest days.
Cathy’s life was defined by love, the love she received, the love she nurtured, and the love she heaped on to her daughters, her grandson, and her pets. She leaves behind treasured memories, stories that will be shared for years to come, and a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Cathy is survived by her three daughters, Caitlyn (Madison Faust) Stevenson, Cheyene Towsley, and Cierra Stevenson; her grandson, Charlie Towsley, Jr.; her siblings, Linda (John) Cottington, Don Isberner, Susan (Floyd) Isberner-White; her nieces and nephews, Amy, Jay, Lynn, Don Jr., Tammy, and Corey; her great nieces and nephews, Phillip, Emily, Kayla, Nina, Trey; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Isberner and Ruth (Adelich) Lomas; her beloved stepfather, Ralph Lomas; and her sister, Elizabeth Brown.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
