Charles (Chuck) L. Malin Jr., age 67 Viroqua,died Tuesday, August 7, 2007. Charles (Chuck) L. Malin Jr., age 67 of S5518 B Rockwell Road Viroqua WI,54665-8718 passed from this life Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at his home. He was born July 12, 1940 in La Crosse, WI to Charles and Anne (Trussoni) Malin Sr. On June 26, 1965 he married Joyce Bjornstad from Cashton, WI. Chuck was a sales representative for Wilson and Company and also John Morrell Company. Chucks ultimate passion was collecting Red Wing stoneware. He was the foremost expert on all phases of Red Wing stoneware. In 2000 he and Joyce exhibited 500 pieces of Red Wing stoneware at Norskedalen Nature Center in Coon Valley, WI where approximately 22,000 people enjoyed the exhibit. They also had an exhibit at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. They had amassed one of the largest collections of Red Wing up until that time. He also had several articles published in various newspapers and was featured in the Country Today, Red Wing Republican Eagle, Broadcaster, Westby Times and Wisconsin Agriculturist newspapers. Chuck had the gift of salesmanship. He began by selling magazines in grade school. For his efforts he was awarded packages of gum for selling the most, which he shared with his younger brothers and sisters. He enjoyed his farm in Cashton, WI for 19 years after which he retired. He also loved Wisconsins circling seasons. Chuck is survived by his wife, Joyce. He is also survived by three brothers: Stanley (Claudine) of Burlington, WI; Stuart of Phoenix, AZ; Gary of Idaho; five sisters: Jo (Harold) Maxwell of DeSoto; Sharon (Steve) Rybolds of Westby, Marilyn (Gary) Leum of Westby; Loretta (Roy) Morton of Marshall, TX; Ruby (Ray) Key of Readstown; and one brother-in-law: Howard Maxwell of DeSoto. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; an infant sister; another sister, Dorothy Maxwell; his mother and father-in-law: Lloyd and Caroline Bjornstad; his maternal grandparents: Lorenzo and Josephine Trussoni; and paternal grandparents: Joseph and Mae Malin. Blessed be his memory. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, August 10, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua. Father Robert J. Cook will celebrate the Mass with burial in the Moen Cemetery near Cashton. Military Rites provided by Syverson-Funk American Legion and Westby VFW. Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. Friends may also call on Friday after 9:30 a.m. at the church.
