Charles Hysel, age 80 of rural LaFarge, died Friday September 13, 2019. Born to Jonathan & Amy (Parr) Hysel on October 5, 1938, in La Farge WI passed Friday, September 13, 2019. Upon graduating, Charles married on June 8, 1957, his high school sweetheart, Darlene Miller. Together, they farmed in the Tunnelville area of La Farge for many years. Charles always had a fertile mind and over the years embarked on many creative ventures, a couple favorites being, raising veal calves, Angora goats and red worms. (His family was quite grateful he chose not to execute his idea of raising rats!) Because Charles loved the outdoor life, he spent many autumn hours squirrel hunting (often accompanied by Darlene), and enjoyed deer hunting, snowmobiling, canoeing and fishing, to name a few. Above all was his passion for flying, having obtained a private pilots license and eventually owning a Piper 140 and later a Cessna 172. He also attended many air shows. In later years, Charles was able to enjoy another of his favorites, Polka music. He faithfully listened to the morning radio broadcasts on WVRQ and afternoons watched the Big Joe and the Molly B polka shows on television every chance he got. Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Darlene; children Steven (Barb), La Crosse; Pamela, La Farge; Douglas (Kathie), Hillsboro; Carl, Sylvan; and Sandra Hughes, Sparta.
