Charles Robert BrinkleyJuly 12, 2005 Charles Robert Brinkley, age 76 of Richland Center, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at the Pine Valley Healthcare Center in Richland Center. He was born on March 10, 1929 to Henry and Susan (Buswell) Brinkley in Chicago, Ill. He spent the majority of his childhood and teen years in Viroqua, Wis. During his high school years he was on the football squad and the boxing team. He also enjoyed tumbling. He received his high school diploma in May of 1947. On April 30, 1949 he married Myrna Ellefson at Freeman Lutheran Church. During their marriage they lived in LaCrosse, Milwaukee, Richland Center (twice) and Rockford, IL. Their union was blessed by the birth of four sons: Donald, David, Duane and Gerald. Charles and Myrna became members of Park Street Christian Church in May of 1967. After 17 years in Rockford, they returned to Richland Center and Park Street Christian Church. He served as a Deacon and Elder and took advantage of opportunities to serve Christ. His major hobby was making and flying model airplanes. He received a lot of enjoyment when he could teach a child to build a plane. He was preceded in death by his wife Myrna; his parents, Henry and Susan; his brother Donald; an infant daughter Gail; and a nephew Michael. Survivors include his children, Donald and Debbie (Morris) of Indianapolis, IN; David and Diane (Gard) and Duane and Lori (Coppernoll) of Richland Center; Gerald of Templeton, MA; three grandchildren: Megan, Ashley Ann and Christopher; two step-grandsons, Michael Morris of Waukesha, WI and Joseph Morris of SanClemente, CA; his sister, Jodean Olson of Westby; and in-laws, including Ashley and Beverly Ellefson of Cortland, NY; Marjorie and John Foley of Woodstock, VA; Norman and Joyce Ellefson of LaCrosse; Carol and Lawrence Bishop of Ferryville; third and fourth generation nieces and nephews; and friends. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Park Street Christian Church in Richland Center. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday after 12:00 noon.
