Charles T. Harris, age 83 of Viroqua, died Tuesday, August 28, 2007. Charles "Chub" Harris, 83 of Viroqua died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 after a short stay at Vernon Manor. His wife of 62 years was at his side. Charles was born June 22, 1924, in Kickapoo Township to Roy and Helen (Smith) Harris. He married Vernell Long on July 18, 1945. Charles was a business owner in Viola and Viroqua (Chubs Skelgas). He later worked for FS in Viroqua. After retiring in 1990, he worked part time for the office of Emergency Management as Hazardous Facility Coordinator. He was a member of the volunteer fire departments in both Viola and Viroqua and recognized in 1986 for dedicated service from 1968-1986. He is survived by his wife, Vernell, two sons: Barry (Marge) of California; James (Arlene) of Colorado; and daughter: Cheryl (Tom) of Dousman, WI. Four grandchildren: Yvette, Krista, Scott, Anthony; two step-grandchildren: Abby and Austin; one great-grandson: Kaleb. He is further survived by one sister, Patricia Harris of Readstown. He was preceded in death by one infant son, Charles Jr. and his parents.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2007 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker Street, (Hwy. 56) in Viroqua WI. Pastor George Shick will officiate with burial in the Viola Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
