Charlotte Yaun

Charlotte Joyce Yaun, 88, of Westby, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse. She and her twin brother were born on June 19, 1928 in Purdy at home to Sever and Hazel (DeLap) Erickson. Charlotte attended Collins country school. She married Frederick "Fritz" Alexander Yaun on August 11, 1945 in Long Beach, CA before his discharge from the service on September 23, 1945. Together they farmed for 32 years until Fritz had to retire from farming in 1980 due to his health. Some of Charlottes jobs off the farm were cooking for Davis School and Rubes A&W, and as an aid at Vernon Memorial Hospital. After leaving the farm and moving to West Fork, she worked at Hansens bakery and NCR until she retired. She was a faithful member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Charlotte loved her Mary Circle friends and enjoyed W-ELCA as well, her faith carried her through many joys, trials, and tribulations. Times with family and friends were priceless to her. Baking for one and all was a favorite pastime of Charlottes. Her pecan and apple pies were a treat for many friends and she was proud of the money raised by her pies that were auctioned for the Bland Bekkedal Hospice House annual banquet. She demonstrated baking Norwegian treats at Dregnes Scandinavian Gifts for many years. Charlotte is survived by her four daughters: Linda (Joe) Murphy-Glowski of Oklahoma City, OK, Jana (Dave) Dregne of Westby, Janet (Brian) Hanson of Menomonee Falls WI, and Sherry of Madison, WI; grandchildren: Troy (Katrina) Hanson of Kewaskum, Brad (Sue) Hanson of Menomonee Falls, Chris (Heather) Dregne of Westby, Kathy (Sean) Carney of Oshkosh, and Melissa (James) Upton of OKC; great grandchildren: Jordan, Jason, and Brady Hanson and Ellie Landreville of Kewaskum, Averi and Aubrie Hanson on Menomonee Falls, Anna Dregne of Westby, and Elise Upton of OKC. Charlotte is also survived by her twin brother, Charles "Pete" (Marjie) Erickson; sisters-in-law: Loma Erickson, Hildagarde Matson, and Verna Yaun; several nieces and nephews; Goddaughter, Karen McAllister; and daughter of the heart, Sandy Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers: Kenneth (Eunice), Howard (Florene), and Sherman Erickson; one great grandson, Daniel Chris Dregne; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Alexander and Barbara Yaun.
