Christine M. Berens, 96, of Westby died Sunday morning, July 15, 2012 Christina M. Berens, 96, of Westby died Sunday morning, July 15, 2012 at Vernon Memorial Hospital of a heart attack. She was born December 28, 1915 to Vernon and Elvira (Croll) Williams in Putney, Vermont. She married Harry A.C. Morse on September 19, 1933. He preceded her in death caused by a routine Training flight accident while in the Army Air Corps during World War II on October 14, 1944. Christina lived in Brattleboro, VT, until 1961 when she moved to Chicago. While there she married Andrew A. Berens on September 21, 1963. They enjoyed traveling together and returned to Holland to visit the birthplace of Mr. Berens. She worked in Chicago several years in the vision field. In 1970 Christina and Andrew moved to Benton, Arkansas to retire. After Mr. Berens death in 1986 she came to live in Westby to be near her daughter Ellin. Since living in Westby she worked part time in Country Collectables Antique Shop owned by her daughter and son-in-law Ellin and Alden Solberg. Christina was a member of the Dell United Methodist Church. In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Florence Perras. Her survivors are one daughter Ellin Morse (Alden) Solberg, granddaughter Laura (Sergio) Vasquez; two great-granddaughters Margaret and Nicole; one great grandson Sergio; two step-grandchildren, Michael (Rebecca) Solberg and Debra (Mark) Lindvig; four step-great-grandchildren: Brandi and Brandon Lindvig, and Megan and Jesse Solberg; two step-great-great-granddaughters Laney and Mari; many friends; three nieces; and her special friend and dedicated caregiver Elaine DeWitt. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Dell United Methodist Church. Pastor Karen Bankes will officiate. Burial will be at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien, IL. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main, in Westby. Memorial donations may be made to Dell United Methodist Church Organ Fund.The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
