Clara B. Saegrove, age 99 of Mt. Sterling, died Friday, May 3, 2013. Clara B. Saegrove, age 99 of Mt. Sterling, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Sannes-Skogdalen Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove. She was born on January 14, 1914 to Mathias and Ella (Crogan) Thompson. She graduated from Vernon Co. Normal School and taught in rural schools in the area for several years. On November 21, 1942 she was united in marriage to Arthur Saegrove. Together they farmed for 20 years and owned and operated the Saegrove General Store in Mt. Sterling for 18 years. She was a lifetime member of the Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church and the WELCA and taught Bible School and Sunday School. She is survived by two children: Karen Saegrove of Ferryville and Marcus (Diana) Saegrove of Gays Mills; one grandson, David (Shelly) Saegrove of LaCrosse; one great-grandson, John Saegrove; one sister, Eunice Peterson of Lodi; one sister-on-law, Kjellaug Thompson; daughter-in-law, Kristen Bernacki; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur on December 19, 1982; her son, Rodney on April 9, 1989; brother, Paul Thompson and sister, Leona Chellevold. Blessed be our memory of Clara B. Saegrove. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church. Pastor Nile Sandeen will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, Hwy 131 and Sunset Ridge Ave. in Gays Mills. Friends may also call after 12:00 noon on Tuesday at the church. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Gays Mills is serving the family.
