Clara May

Clara May, 102 of Westby, died Friday, June 20, 2014 Clara M. (Holtet) Dolan May of Westby died Friday, June 20th, 2014 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. Clara was born on June 22, 1911 to Nels and Alma Holtet in the town of Clinton in Vernon County. She was united in Marriage to Don Dolan In 1929 in Winona, MN. Don and Clara had four children. They farmed together in the Dell area until 1968 when they moved to Viroqua. Following Dons death in 1969 Clara worked at the Vernon County Home until 1976 when she retired. In 1978 Clara married Harley May and they made their home in Avalanche, Harley passed away in 2012. Clara was an avid card player and continued to play cards into her 100s. She also enjoyed fishing and the highlight of her fishing trip with the Nursing Home residents was when she caught the largest fish of the group and she was 102! Clara did beautiful needlework and quilting and her handiwork is treasured by all of her family members. Clara is survived by her two sons, Donald (Ruth) Dolan, of La Crosse and Roger (Diane) Dolan of Janesville; brother, Waylen Holtet of Dell; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Belva Larson; son, Jimmy Dolan; grandson, Douglas Larson; son-in-law, Erling Larson; brothers, Otto, Palmer and Milton Holtet; and sisters, Ethel Perkins, Evelyn Miller and Nima McDaniel. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 24th 2014 at 11:00 am at the Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby (708 S. Main St, Hwy. 27)Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Dell Cemetery in Dell Wisconsin. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
