Clarence "Albin" Johnson passed away on Monday, June 12, 2006 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse. He was born August 29, 1922 to Adolph and Clara (Blihovde) Johnson in rural Westby. He served in the 36th Infantry Army Division during WWII. He married Doris Stafslien on February 4, 1948 at the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Albin was a lifelong member of Vang Lutheran Church, Westby American Legion Severson-Funk Post # 155 and the Westby VFW Post # 8021. He was a farmer, painter, and construction worker. Albin is survived by his wife, Doris of Westby; daughter Shirley (Frank) Johnson of Norwalk and son-in-law Ron (Diane) Christianson of Coon Valley; grandsons Scott (Angie) Johnson of West Salem, Ryan (Nicole) Christianson of LaCrescent, MN, Stuart Johnson of Cashton; great-grandchildren Abby and Anna Johnson, and Gavin, Lacey and Sawyer Christainson; nieces Mary (Gary) Jacobson of Westby and Judy (Robert) Gonske of Rice Lake, and Donna Matison of Reno, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Barb Christianson in 1990, his brother, Joslyn and sisters Alida Mikkelson, Thelma Guerrero, Evelyn Craig, and Alice Hoveland. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at the Vang Lutheran Church, rural Westby. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 South Hwy 14, Westby and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family requests memorials to Vang Lutheran Church or Gundersen Lutheran Hospice. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
