Clayton L. Hanson, age 67 of Viroqua, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Clayton Leroy Hanson, age 67, of Viroqua, formerly of Redmound, WI, passed away peacefully at Vernon Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Clayton was born in Wheatland Township in Vernon County on March 12, 1945, to John and Irene (Hunter) Hanson. He graduated from DeSoto High School in 1963. After that was employed at Dahls Drugstore and then moved on to become the head pressman for the Broadcaster for 27 years. After the press was sold he worked various jobs including Hoffs Mobile. In 1973 Clayton married Lois (Hay) and together they raised a daughter Christina Hanson. Clayt enjoyed spending days at "The Woods" hunting, gardening, and working on his tractors. He also enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters while they were growing up. Clayt was always known for telling jokes or sharing a good story. Clayton is survived by his wife Lois; their daughter Christina (Kurt); granddaughters Ashley and Taylor Rickey; brother Melvin (Eileen) Hanson; sister-in-law Arlene Hanson; brother-in-law Robert (Karen) Hay; sis-in-law Ruby Hay; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by good friends George Robson, Steve Sidie and Duane Hoff. Clayton is preceded in death by his parents John and Irene; brother Gordon; brothers-in-law Jack Ewers and Richard Hay; sister-in-law Delores Ewers; and a niece Sheri Mackesey Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (hwy56) in Viroqua. The Reverend Dr. Steven Fossum will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 Noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred.
