Clifford Mikkelson, 96 of rural Soldiers Grove, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Clifford Mikkelson, 96 of rural Soldiers Grove, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Rolling Hills Home in Sparta. He was born on June 20, 1918 to John and Anna Mikkelson in Crawford County. He was a life long member of Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church. He was married to Bertina Tisthammer Weeks on April 17, 1940. Clifford is survived by two daughters, Annette (Tony) Guldenaar and Beverly (Ramon) Cram; two sons, Roger (Carole) Weeks and Frank (Mary) Weeks; thirteen grandchildren, Rick (Tammy) Guldenaar, Russ (Lynn) Guldenaar, Julie (Paul) Darrington, Roger, Jr. (Dawn) Weeks, John Weeks, Barbara Bouldon, Ramon, Cathy and Susan Cram, Caroline Becker, Randy (Shelly) Weeks and Lori (Jeff) Irvine; twenty one great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Brenna Weeks, Andrew, Zachary and Rachel Bouldon, Bill Weeks, Amber (Travis) Elvert, Harry (Jessica) Cram, John, James, Matt and Miranda Cram, Brandon, Abbie and Jaydin Guldenaary, Ryan and Becky Guldenaar, Alex and Eric Darrington, Sean and Angelina Irvine; five great-great-grandchildren, Zyrus and Myztre Cram, Kloie Guldenaar, Grady and Garret Elvert; a nephew, John (Linda) Mikkelson and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Bertina; brother, Myron Mikkelson; two granddaughters, Nancy Jean and Lynn Marie Weeks; and one grandson, Arnie Weeks. Clifford and Bertina lived most of their lives on the family farm in Crawford County. Both of them were school bus drivers for several years. They made three trips to Norway to visit relatives. They were proud of their Norwegian heritage. Many of their Norwegian relatives came to visit them in Wisconsin. They enjoyed snowmobiling to visit neighbors in the winter. Clifford has missed Bertina so much since she passed away. The family would like to thank the Rolling Hills Home, Dr. Pace, the nurses, hospice and everyone who cared for him with such kindness. Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon on Monday, July 28 at Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church, with Pastor Nile Sandeen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Monday at the Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Gays Mills is serving the family.
