Cody William Krueger, age 26, of Westby, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from injuries he sustained from a vehicle fire on July 4, 2026. He was born in Viroqua on June 13, 2000, to Jeffrey and Tammy Krueger. Cody grew up on a dairy farm outside of La Farge milking cows, running around with the dogs and horses. He grew to have a love of animals. He attended school in La Farge and wrestled, played football, and track. He graduated with the class of 2019. Following graduation, he attended Rochester Tech to pursue a degree in personal training. He also played football for the Yellow Jackets. He worked at the Lost Canyons in Wisconsin Dells for a few years. Cody had been an active horse puller since he was 9 years old. He pulled horses across the United States including the National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO several times, state fairs in Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Florida, Minnesota, and other states. He attended 52 pulls in one season (a father-son record for the Wisconsin Horse Puller Association) and won the Calgary Stampede in Alberta, Canada with his horses Dewey and Barney. Cody also loved time spent in nature hunting and fishing. During the nights, he loved to chase girls and go out with the boys and have a few drinks. He also liked to shoot pool and bowl. He also was a friend of the Amish and loved to attend the Amish horse sales and drive the Amish around.
Survivors include his father, Jeff (Barbara) Krueger; his mother, Tammy Howell; his siblings, Brett (Ashley) Felde, Mike Krueger, Hannah (Logan) Peterson, and Keagan Krueger; nieces and nephews, Junelyn, Brecken, Axton, Nolan Felde, Sadie, and Jasper Krueger; his maternal grandmother, Maureen Sidie; numerous aunts and uncles; cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Cody was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, LaVerne and Carol Krueger; his maternal grandfathers, Silas Howell and Larry Sidie; his maternal great-grandparents, Chancy and Doris Sidie; his paternal great-grandparents, Bernard and Bertha Grottke; his grandparents, Carol and Andrew Johnson; and his uncle, Wade Sidie.
A Funeral Service for Cody will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. Pastor Bob Streeter will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. Additional visitation will be held Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Cody will be laid to rest at the Viroqua Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at Old Towne Inn in Westby. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
Cody’s family would like to thank the staff members of Emplify by Gundersen in La Crosse; the med flight crew that flew him to Madison; the burn care team at U.W. Madison, and the Trauma Care Center staff for the compassionate care they provided. The family would like to thank everyone from coast to coast and Canada for their prayers for Cody and his family.
