Colin "Jim" Ledman died, on Saturday, February 2, 2013 Colin James "Jim" Ledman passed away peacefully after a long battle with COPD, on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the age of 71. He was born January 26, 1942 to Mary (Sommars) and Darwin Ledman in Viroqua. He grew up in Viola and graduated from Viola High School Class of 1960. On July 15, 1961 he married Judy Appleman at the Salem Ridge Church, La Farge, WI. They spent most of their married life in Viola where they raised three children, Laura, Terrie and Jimmy. He is survived by his wife, Judy; his three children: Laura (Jeff) Kerkman of Holmen and their family, Alex and Leah; Teresa Oliphant of Viola and her family, Ryan (Ashley) Oliphant, Cody (Jena) Oliphant and their children, Carter and Hayden, and Louis Ludwig; and Jimmy (Darcy) Ledman of Viroqua and their family, Marissa, Sawyer, Bryar, Kaysar and Aniyah. Three brothers: Larry (Barbara) Ledman of Richland Center, Ted (Jean) Ledman of West Salem, and Dick (Rhonda) Ledman of Viola; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Cade of Viroqua; and many nephews, nieces and friends that he kept in contact with via the internet. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Henry and Phyllis Appleman; two sisters: Patty, in infancy and Connie Cade; and a grandson, Benjamin Kerkman. Jim was known for his "colorful" storytelling, sense of humor and boisterous laugh. He enjoyed sports, politics and computers. He and Connie are now in cahoots together again! The family would like to thank the Kickapoo Rescue Squad, Vernon Memorial Hospice, Dr. Calkins and Dr. Fouts for all the compassion and care they gave to Jim and his family. Memorial services will he held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Viola United Methodist Church with burial in the Viola Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers and plants memorials may be made to Kickapoo Rescue Squad or Vernon Memorial Hospice. The Vosseteig Funeral Homes Henthorn Memorial Center of Viola is serving the family.
