Corey Russell Aarness, age 17 of Westby, died early Saturday morning, September 24, 2005 Corey Russell Aarness, age 17 of Westby, died early Saturday morning, September 24, 2005 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born on March 17, 1988 to Russell and Christine (Anderson) Aarness. He was baptized and confirmed at Westby-Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Corey was currently a senior at Westby High School where he had participated in football for three years. Farming was important to Corey and he loved showing animals. He also enjoyed spending time in the woods and was proud of the successful bear hunt with his dad. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Justin at home; his maternal grandparents, Clifford and June Anderson; paternal grandmother, Shirley Aarness; paternal great-grandmother, Lilah Swiggum; maternal aunts and uncles: Lynette (Richard) Johnson, Roxanne (Alan) Von Ruden, Brenda (Daniel) Snodgrass and Dawn Anderson; paternal aunts and uncles: Nancy (Todd) Ihrcke, Linda (David) Gluch and Marlene (Keith) Olson; many cousins, relatives, classmates and close friends with whom he enjoyed spending time. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Leon Aarness on August 15, 1993 and his uncle, Daniel Fisher on December 12, 2000.
