Cory W. Fortun, 37, of rural Ferryville and formerly of Viroqua, died Sunday, November 29, 2009. Cory W. Fortun, age 37, of Ferryville and formerly of Viroqua, died Sunday, November 29, 2009. He was born in Viroqua on May 23, 1972 to William and Matilda (Hooverson) Fortun. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Viroqua. After graduation from Viroqua High School he worked for Nelson Muffler/Cummins and was currently working at the corn dryer in Viroqua. Cory is survived by his wife Rene; children: Grace Widner Fortun, Avynna Fortun, Tatum Fortun, and William Fortun; mother Matilda (Keith Hase) Fortun; mother-in-law Pam (Dave Haugh) Munson-Widner; paternal grandmother Lillian Fortun of Minneapolis, MN; siblings Catherine (Gert) Altmann of North Carolina, Roxanne (Jim) Christenson of Greenville, Randy (Shanon) Johnson of Viroqua and Sharon (Rick) Olson of Viroqua; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts & uncles and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father William on August 3, 1972; grandfather Neely; and uncle Art Fortun. Blessed be our memory of Cory W. Fortun. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56), Viroqua. Pastor George Shick will officiate with burial in the North West Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
