Curtis H. Volden, age 93 of Westby, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Curtis H. Volden, age 93 of Westby, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. He was born on November 7, 1914 in the township of Coon, Vernon County, Wisconsin to Albert and Anna (Erlandson) Volden. Curtis met his future wife, Rosie Hedegaard, while living in Seneca, Wisconsin. They were united in marriage on February 9, 1938 and had celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary prior to Rosies death on April 8, 2004. In addition to working for Peter Nelson and Sons in LaCrosse, Curtis was a farmer and he and Rosie farmed in the Westby area until their retirement. They were members of Vang Lutheran Church, rural Westby. Curtis and Rosie raised a daughter, Marlene (Hanson) Buros, who along with her husband, Robert, survive Curtis. In addition, Curtis is survived by four grandchildren: Randi Buros, Shane Buros, Ron (Marisa) Buros and Lisa Buros; eight great-grandchildren: Jarret, Ryan, Kyler, Cassie, Shayla, Baylee, Maddison and Gage. In addition to his wife, Rosie, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Avis and Tilford Olson and Myra and Norman Klomsten; one grandson, Conrad Buros; three nephews: Paul Olson, Telmer Olson and Michael Olson in infancy; and two nieces: Gertrude Schuster and Margaret Peterson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Vang Lutheran Church, rural Westby. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial in the Vang Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Monday after 1:00 p.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
