Cynthia "Cindy" Inman Burkum, a beacon of love and creativity, passed away on November 12, 2024, at the age of 63. Born on June 19, 1961, Cindy was born to the late Richard and Margaret (Larson) Inman in Beloit, WI.
Cindy graduated from Westby High School in 1980, the place where she first began to showcase her artistic talents and kind-hearted nature. Cindy was counted on as a responsible family member as she babysat for family members. Her hard work and perseverance were shown as she helped her Uncle Ted Larson with his tobacco farm.
On June 29, 1986, Cindy married Ray Burkum in Las Vegas. When they were living on the Navy base, Cindy was known for her caring spirit, often babysitting for other families, and providing a safe and joyful environment for the children in her care like she had for her own family.
Her artistic pursuits were a testament to her faith-filled and creative soul. Cindy had a passion for drawing, painting, and wood burning, each piece a reflection of her inner beauty and strength. Her hands were rarely still, always sewing, creating art, gardening, and caring for her home and family. She found great joy in sharing her passions with her daughter, together exploring the endless possibilities of their imaginations. When Ray was driving his racecar, Cindy could be found using her artistic talent by painting his car.
Cindy's garden was another creative nature. She could often be found with her hands in the soil, nurturing every plant whether it was her flowers or vegetables, with the same love and attention she gave to those around her. Cindy would spend countless hours freezing the vegetables she grew in her garden which were used for many of her wonderful home cooked meals.
Her faith and religion were a staple in Cindy’s life. She was always willing to share her faith with others. Cindy also had a great love for her family, even as she helped care for her mother until Margaret’s passing.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Raymond; her daughter, Shena; her grandchildren, Carly and Haiden; her siblings: Michael (Janice), Daniel (Vicky), and Gregory; along with nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her aunts and uncles.
