Daisy M. "Dee" Goss, 86 of Westby, died Friday, September 11, 2015. Daisy (Dee) Goss, age 86, of Westby, WI, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Norseland Nursing Home, Westby following a prolonged illness. Dee was born on July 7, 1929 in Moreland, IN to William Talmage Pierce and Zola Seagraves Pierce. She lost her baby sister Christine when she was 3 years old and her mother when she was 4 years old. Her father remarried to Garnet Brunner Pierce when she was 6 years old and she had 2 sisters, Loretta Pierce Beatty and Mildred (Kay) Pierce Gray. Her father was a storekeeper and then a farmer. She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School. She attended Northwestern Nazarene College in Idaho and then graduated from Englewood School of Nursing in Chicago, IL. She worked as an RN for over 30 years, in Chicago, Edgerton, WI, La Crosse, WI and Viroqua, WI. She married Richard (Dick / Doc) Victor Goss on September 3, 1953 in New Castle, IN. They lived initially in Chicago, then Edgerton, WI and La Crosse, WI for a few years and then La Crescent, MN for 9 years. The family moved to Westby, WI in 1968, She enjoyed gardening and flower arranging, reading, and volunteering at her church. She loved dogs and had one most of her life. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Girl Scout leader when her children were young. She was active in Eastern Star in La Crescent and was elected as Worthy Matron. She was well known for her baked goods which she loved to give to friends and neighbors. She was a charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent and a longtime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby, where she was President of the ALCW for several years and a regular lefse and rosette maker and kitchen worker. She was known for her softspoken kindness, her smile and her care and concern for others, especially her elderly friends. To know her was to love her. She is survived by her children, WIlliam (Bill) Victor Goss and wife Cathy of Greenwood Village, CO; Roger Wayne Goss of Rolling Hills, CA and Shari Lynn Goss of Westby, W and soninlaw Steven Monk of Rochester, MN; grandchildren Talmage Steven Goss of San Diego, CA; Kelsey Alayne Goss Ambler and husband Chase of Denver, CO; Emily Mae Monk of Rochester, MN; Ombeni Steven Goss of Westby; and Estelle Marie Goss of Rolling Hills, CA; greatgrandchildren Evelyn and Heath Ambler of Denver, CO; sister Mildred (Kay) Gray of Fort Myers, FL; nieces Debbie Beatty Walker of Ashland, OH; Kimberly Gray Disotell, Cindy Gray Larsen, Deena Gray Summers, and Kathy Gray Hicks, all of the Fort Myers, FL area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Goss, daughter Ann Louise Goss Monk, parents, stepmother, and sister Loretta Pierce Beatty. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor John Dumke will officiate.
