Daniel Bryant Oium

Daniel Bryant Oium, age 53, of Viroqua, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026, at home. He was born on April 21, 1972, in Viroqua to Eugene and Phyllis (Hagen) Oium. Growing up on the family farm in rural La Farge, he enjoyed the run of the farm with his motorcycle and 4-wheeler. He attended La Farge High School with the class of 1991. Following his schooling, he worked primarily in farming and auto mechanics as well as other trades. Daniel enjoyed collecting and using every tool in his toolbox. He enjoyed solving mechanical issues and fixing anything that was broken. We remember his sense of humor, gentle spirit, and his perseverance.

Survivors include his parents, Eugene and Phyllis Oium; his daughters, Dawn Bakkestuen and her children; Brittany (Ryan) Paulson and their children; his son, Bryant; his siblings, Bradley (Andi) Oium, Joseph Oium, Naomi (Shane) Stone, Rachel (Mark) Parker, Jessica (Brian) Dvorak, Leigh (Lucus) Rueckheim, Lance (Emily) Oium, and Karyn (Kraig) Hemmersbach; his good friend, Peggy; several nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; other relatives and friends.

Daniel was preceded in death by his brother, Nathan Oium; an infant brother; his sister-in-law, Kim Oium; and an infant granddaughter.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Daniel will be laid to rest at North Coon Prairie Cemetery following the service. A light reception will follow in the church hall at North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church.
