Daniel "Dan" Wedeberg

Daniel “Dan” John Wedeberg, age 73, of Gays Mills, passed away at home July 8th, 2026, after a long illness with his family by his side.

He was born in Viroqua on June 29th, 1953, the son of Alfred and Alice (Danielson) Wedeberg. He graduated from North Crawford High School in 1972. After graduation, Dan farmed on the home farm with his parents for most of his life. After farming, he worked for Design Homes in Prairie du Chien and the township of Haney.

Dan was an active lifelong member of Mt. Sterling Luthern Church. His faith and church home were always important to him.

Dan enjoyed working with antique tractors. As a member of the Ferryville Antique Tractor Club, he was involved in many antique tractor pulls and tractor rides.

In recent years, Dan was eager to help with summer fieldwork such as raking hay and clipping pastures for his nephews, John and Jake.

Dan is survived by his brother, James (Julie) Wedeberg; his sister, Susan (Dennis) Bruns; nephews, John Wedeberg and Jake (Amanda) Wedeberg; great nieces, Claire and Lauren; and great nephew, Jens. He is also survived by cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Alice (Danielson) Wedeberg.

Dan had a big heart and always enjoyed getting together with family for birthdays and family reunions. One of the highlights of his life was his trip to Norway in 2013 when he was able to visit many ancestral family farms and meet Norwegian relatives.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church Cemetery Association or a charity of choice.

Dan’s family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.

A Funeral Service for Dan will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Mt. Sterling Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Dan will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the church.
